ENNA Geo, a member of the ENNA Group and developer of the Babina Greda geothermal power plant project, has completed 3D seismic and magnetotelluric surveys in the municipalities of Babina Greda, Sikirevci and Gundinci.
The surveys mark an important step in assessing the geothermal potential of the area. By collecting modern, high-resolution 3D seismic and magnetotelluric data, ENNA Geo aims to obtain detailed information on the subsurface geological structure, particularly in the less-explored parts of the “Babina Greda 1” geothermal water exploitation field and the “Babina Greda 2” exploration area.
The seismic survey was conducted using vibroseis trucks, specially equipped vehicles that generate acoustic waves underground. Surface receivers then recorded the reflections of these waves from geological layers.
Processing and interpreting the collected data, together with existing geophysical and well data, will provide a stronger basis for more precisely defining the geothermal reservoir and planning the further development of geothermal fields.
The surveys were carried out in cooperation with Geopartner Geofizyka, a company specializing in geophysical, geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations across Europe.
