Moment Energy has officially inaugurated Megafactory 1, which it describes as the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) battery repurposing facility, bringing domestic battery energy storage manufacturing online just six weeks after announcing the project.

The operational facility converts retired EV batteries into battery energy storage systems (BESS) designed to support critical infrastructure such as data centres, hospitals, factories and microgrids, while extending the useful life of batteries before they are recycled.
The company expects the facility to produce 1 GWh of battery energy storage systems annually by 2030, creating more than 100 direct jobs and supporting over 1,000 indirect jobs across British Columbia.
