Georgia and Azerbaijan have signed a package of agreements in the energy sectors during a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on May 18
"The parties signed a number of agreements in the energy and transport sectors following the meeting. These include a 20-year intergovernmental agreement on electricity supplies and transit between Georgia and Azerbaijan, as well as a 20-year extension of the gas sale and purchase agreement that has been in effect since 2003, which includes guarantees of gas supply security for the population," according to the Georgian government press release.
Georgia imported 2.3 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan in 2025, accounting for around 70% of Georgia's gas consumption.
