Santa Fe County officials approve massive solar array near Stanley

17 Apr 2026

One of the largest solar and battery energy storage developments proposed in New Mexico has won approval from the Santa Fe County Planning Commission.

Thursday night's vote to approve Linea Energy’s Globemallow project in southeastern Santa Fe County comes less than a year after the county's approval of AES Corp.'s controversial Rancho Viejo Solar project near Eldorado, which remains in litigation. The larger Globemallow solar array near Stanley has produced almost no pushback at county meetings.

The San Francisco-based company plans to sell its power to Public Service Company of New Mexico and aims to produce 350 megawatts — enough electricity to power an estimated 93,000 homes annually, Linea Energy officials have said — on some 2,000 acres of currently agricultural and ranch land. The proposal has drawn excitement from clean energy advocates.
