The agreement was witnessed by Energy Minister Makozo Chikote.

The project isexpected to begin taking shape within six months, reflecting an accelerated approach toaddressing Zambia's electricity supply challenges. The planned facility will combine wind and solar generation to improve supply reliability whilereducing the country's heavy dependence on hydropower, which currently dominates theenergy mix.

Authorities have increasingly prioritised diversification as climate variabilitycontinues to impact water levels and generation capacity.According to the Ministry of Energy, the initiative aligns with a broader policy directionencouraging private investment in power generation. The move follows a presidential call toscale up private sector involvement to help close supply gaps and support economic growth.
