Nordex SE has received an order to supply turbines suitable for low wind conditions for a 21-MW onshore wind project in Germany, representing the first contact for its currently highest series-produced machines N175/6.X.

Image by Tanya IvanovaWith a hub height of 199 metres and a total rotor blade tip height of over 286 metres, the turbines are able to generate electricity even at very low wind speeds, the German manufacturer said on Wednesday.
The turbines were ordered by project developer Westfaelisch-Niedersaechsische Energie GmbH & Co KG and will be used for the Marienmuenster-Altenbergen wind plant in Germany’s federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Nordex will supply three N175/6.X turbines, each with a nominal output of 7 MW.
Construction of the foundations is scheduled to start in September 2026. The wind farm is expected to become operational in the summer of 2027.
According to Nordex, the turbines are capable of achieving “a disproportionately high economic benefit” as they can operate in periods of low wind electricity feed-in, when prices are higher. Thanks to their efficacy at low wind speeds, the machines contribute to a more consistent supply of renewable energy, the company added.
