Envusa Energy, a joint venture between Anglo American and EDF Power Solutions, has officially started commercial operations at its Mooi Plaats Solar PV Project in the Northern Cape. The 240 MW project feeds clean energy into South Africa’s national grid, supporting Valterra Platinum, De Beers, and Kumba Iron Ore operations while contributing to the country’s broader energy transition.
Mooi Plaats is the first project within the Envusa portfolio to reach commercial operations, with two additional 140 MW solar projects scheduled for completion in 2026. The development underscores the role of renewable energy projects in advancing energy security, decarbonisation, and long-term community impact.
