US renewables developer Origis Energy said its 150-MWac/210-MWdc Wheatland Solar plant in Indiana has entered commercial operation, supplying electricity to CenterPoint Energy under a long-term agreement.
The utility-scale solar farm, located in Knox County, reached commercial operations on February 27. The project is backed by a 20-year power purchase agreement with CenterPoint Energy to support electricity supply and grid reliability in its Indiana service territory, Origis said.
The Wheatland Solar project was financed through a combination of tax equity and debt, including a commitment from J.P. Morgan and portfolio financing provided by MUFG.
During construction, the project supported around 360 jobs at peak, contributing to local economic activity in Knox County.
"Reaching commercial operations at Wheatland reflects the strength of our development and execution platform and our continued commitment to providing reliable, cost-effective energy solutions for utilities and the communities they serve," said David Groleau, vice president of origination at Origis Energy.
