The transaction will significantly strengthen BASF-Nunhems' position in the Indian vegetable seeds sector, enabling it to achieve market leadership. The acquisition adds two important crops — cauliflower and radish — to its existing portfolio, which already includes hot pepper, watermelon, gourds, and tomato. It also expands the company's market reach, particularly in North India.
Noble Seeds, established in October 2004, has grown rapidly to become one of India's leading vegetable seed companies with 154 employees and nationwide presence. It specializes in breeding and distributing hybrid seeds for crops including cauliflower, radish, tomato, hot pepper, watermelon, gourds, okra, and cucumber, and holds a strong position in cauliflower hybrid seeds.
"This agreement with BASF-Nunhems brings our company to the next growth level," explained Lakshmi Narasimhaiah Madenahally, CEO of Noble Seeds. "It is initiating a new chapter for our team and our customers. By combining BASF-Nunhems' breeding excellence and innovation capabilities with our strong regional germplasm, market understanding, and distribution reach, we are building a stronger foundation on which to serve Indian growers with high-performing vegetable seed solutions," he outlined.
Maximilian Becker, Senior Vice President of BASF-Nunhems, welcomed the partnership. "Today's signing marks another milestone in our presence in the growing vegetable market," he said. "Noble Seeds is the right partner for us. Together, we will become a market leader in India in the years to come, strengthening our crop rotation portfolio as well as our connected offers in the fruits and vegetables market."
Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval, which is anticipated by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
Until full integration is complete, both companies will continue to operate independently to ensure uninterrupted service to farmers and distribution partners. A dedicated integration team has been formed to manage the process smoothly, maintaining transparency and operational consistency throughout the transition.
This strategic combination aligns with BASF-Nunhems' long-term commitment to sustainable agricultural development in India by enhancing innovation, expanding high-quality seed offerings, and delivering greater value to growers across the country.
