Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), a leading global merchant and processor of agricultural commodities, has signed an agreement with a subsidiary of AD Ports Group to develop a dedicated clean bulk handling and storage terminal for agricultural products at Karachi Port, Pakistan.

The new facility will be located at Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited and will strengthen logistics infrastructure for grains, oilseeds and other agricultural goods moving through one of Pakistan's main maritime hubs.

Rubens Marques, Head of South and Southeast Asia at Louis Dreyfus Company, said: "This development reflects our long-term commitment to the country, where we have been operating for over 15 years, and our confidence in its growing role in global agricultural trade. The facility will be a key lever as we work to enhance our supply chain capabilities for the benefit of our business partners up- and downstream – in Pakistan, the region and beyond."

The project forms part of broader port enhancements led by AD Ports Group, which already manages the adjacent Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited container terminal. The initiative supports Pakistan's position as an important trade corridor serving both domestic requirements and regional markets.

The collaboration is expected to improve handling efficiency, reduce turnaround times and increase storage capacity for agricultural commodities, benefiting producers, processors and end customers throughout the supply chain.

Louis Dreyfus Company has maintained operations in Pakistan for more than fifteen years and views the country as a valuable participant in international agricultural flows. The modern bulk terminal will enable the company to expand its origination, processing and distribution activities while supporting overall trade growth in South Asia and neighbouring areas.

AD Ports Group continues to invest in Pakistan's maritime infrastructure, reinforcing Karachi’s role as a key logistics node connecting various trade routes. The new agricultural bulk facility complements existing container operations and contributes to the port's capacity to handle diverse cargo types efficiently.

Construction and operational details will be finalised as the project advances, with both partners focused on delivering a high-standard terminal that meets international quality and safety requirements. The initiative is seen as a significant step toward modernising Pakistan's port capabilities and strengthening its integration into global agricultural supply networks.
