The Formosa 4 project has a maximum potential capacity of 1,104MW.
Under the agreement, a fixed volume of electricity generated by Formosa 4 will be supplied to TSEE once the project is connected to the grid. TSEE will then distribute the renewable energy through its trading platform, enabling corporate customers to secure green power in support of their decarbonisation targets.
The partnership responds to increasing demand for renewable electricity from businesses across Taiwan.
SRE chairperson Lucas Lin said: "Offshore wind is widely recognised as a critical source of large-scale, reliable clean energy. We are pleased to partner with TSEE. This mutually beneficial agreement provides long-term revenue certainty and strengthens Formosa 4's financial foundation, while making stable, reliable renewable power accessible to a broader range of corporate offtakers.
"This is essential for these businesses to maintain operational resilience, enhance competitiveness, and progress toward their sustainability goals."
Formosa 4 was awarded to SRE in the first auction of Taiwan's Round 3 zonal development in 2022. The project obtained its establishment permit in late 2024, becoming the first among the Round 3-1 winners to reach this milestone.
Located 18–20 kilometres off the coast of Miaoli County, the wind farm has a total potential capacity of 1,104 MW. When fully operational, the initial 495 MW phase is expected to produce sufficient clean electricity to supply approximately 500,000 households annually.
In September 2025, SRE selected Siemens Gamesa to supply 35 units of its 14 MW wind turbines for the project.
The CPPA with TSEE marks an important step in securing offtake arrangements and advancing construction financing for Formosa 4, while contributing to the expansion of renewable energy availability for corporate users in Taiwan.
