BASF Launches Xarvio® Field Manager for Grapes in France, Spain, and Turkey

24 Nov 2025  by news.agropages.
BASF Digital Farming has introduced xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Grapes, a dedicated digital agronomy platform for wine grape growers in France, Spain, and Türkiye. The solution will be available for the 2025/26 growing season and supports over 100 local grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay.

The new tool delivers field-specific recommendations for plant protection, disease and pest management, fertilization, and irrigation. By combining advanced agronomic models with real-time field data, it enables growers to optimize resource use, enhance crop health, and reduce environmental impact while maintaining yield and quality.

Konstantin Kretschun, Global Head of BASF Digital Farming, stated: “We’re excited to bring xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Grapes to wine grape growers in Europe. This distinctive, smart and cost-effective digital solution empowers grape growers, viticulturists and the broader wine industry to drive measurable improvements in productivity, profitability, and sustainability.”

Developed in collaboration with wine grape producers and incorporating years of practical feedback, the platform integrates Hort@’s specialized Decision Support System (DSS) for horticulture, acquired by BASF in 2022. The system features process-based models that simulate plant growth stages, pathogen life cycles, pest development, water requirements, and nutrient needs. These models account for local weather, soil conditions, and crop phenology, offering greater accuracy and resilience under changing climate conditions compared to historical statistical approaches.

An intuitive dashboard presents clear, actionable insights and documents every recommendation, helping growers apply inputs precisely where and when needed. This supports compliance with regional regulations and contributes to lower carbon emissions through reduced overuse of water, fertilizers, and crop protection products.

xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Grapes represents a significant step in the digital transformation of viticulture across key European wine-producing regions. By providing timely, data-driven guidance tailored to individual vineyard blocks, the platform assists growers in achieving more consistent quality, improved operational efficiency, and sustainable production practices that align with industry and environmental objectives.

The launch extends the proven capabilities of the established xarvio FIELD MANAGER platform—already widely used in arable crops—into specialty crops, reinforcing BASF Digital Farming’s commitment to delivering advanced, segment-specific digital solutions that support modern agriculture across diverse farming systems.
