Equinor, the Norway-based energy company, announced on Friday that it has entered into a 10-year agreement to supply natural gas to Pražská plynárenská, the gas and electricity utility serving the city of Prague, with deliveries extending at least until 2035.

Norway remains Europe’s leading supplier of natural gas, transporting approximately 95% of its export volumes through pipelines directly to the continent, while the remaining portion is shipped as liquefied natural gas (LNG).

“This joins a string of long-term gas contracts we have signed across Europe in recent years, demonstrating the role gas plays for European energy security,” Equinor CEO Anders Opedal said in a statement.

The company confirmed that deliveries under the new contract have already started. Equinor added that it observes increasing demand from customers in central and southern Europe.

Specific details regarding volumes, pricing, and other commercial terms were not disclosed, as the information is considered confidential, Equinor stated.

The agreement with Prague’s utility further expands Equinor’s portfolio of long-term supply contracts on the European continent, reinforcing the continued importance of pipeline and LNG gas in the region’s energy mix.
