Peru’s Cement Consumption Advances 10% in September

In September 2025, Peru's cement demand increased by 10.2% year-on-year, reaching 1.174 million tonnes (Mt) compared to 1.065 Mt in September 2024, according to the Peruvian Cement Association (ASOCEM). ASOCEM members supplied 1.044 Mt of this total, up from 0.967 Mt in the same period last year. Cement production by members rose by 5.6% year-on-year to 1.054 Mt from 0.997 Mt, while clinker production saw a modest 1.1% year-on-year increase to 0.668 Mt from 0.661 Mt.

Cement exports from Peru decreased by 9.5% year-on-year to 10,432 tonnes in September 2025, down from 11,500 tonnes in September 2024. In contrast, clinker exports surged by 88.4% year-on-year to 70,455 tonnes from 37,400 tonnes during the same period.

Cement imports into Peru dropped significantly by 41.1% year-on-year to 12,602 tonnes in September 2025, compared to 21,000 tonnes in the previous year. Chile accounted for 67.1% of these imports, with Bolivia contributing 32.9%. The average CIF import price through Tacna rose by 1.5% year-on-year to US$129 per tonne, while the price via Desaguadero fell by 6.1% year-on-year to US$91 per tonne, compared to January 2025.

Clinker imports rose sharply by 90.5% year-on-year to 160,807 tonnes in September 2025 from 84,000 tonnes in September 2024. South Korea led as the largest source, supplying 38.5% of clinker imports, followed closely by Vietnam with a 37.5% share, and Ecuador contributing 24%. The average CIF import price through the port of Callao decreased by 16.1% year-on-year to US$51 per tonne. Prices in Maharani dropped by 17.7% to US$55 per tonne, and in Pisco, prices fell by 6.2% year-on-year to US$57 per tonne.
