CPN Hits New Biofuel Bunkering Milestone in Hong Kong

15 Jul 2025  by offshore energy
On July 11, Chimbusco Pan Nation Petro-Chemical (CPN) delivered Hong Kong’s first B30-marine gasoil (B30-MGO), a 30% biodiesel and 70% marine gasoil blend, to Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), a Hong Kong-based shipping company. This delivery advances efforts to lower carbon emissions and promotes sustainable fuel solutions in East Asia, reinforcing CPN’s focus on green bunkering.

The operation also included supplying B30-high-sulphur marine fuel oil, further supporting eco-friendly fuel adoption. CPN and OOCL have a history of collaboration, including Hong Kong’s first biofuel bunkering in August 2024 and the initial B30 marine biofuel bunkering in May 2025.

Separately, CPN achieved a record-breaking delivery of 6,300 metric tons of B24 very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) to the containership XIN Los Angeles in Hong Kong, exceeding its prior record of 5,500 metric tons to the same vessel in February 2025.

In June 2025, CPN joined the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government to establish a green marine fuel bunkering and trading hub. This aligns with the HKSAR’s Action Plan on Green Maritime Fuel Bunkering, launched in November 2024, to strengthen Hong Kong’s role as a global maritime and financial center with a sustainable fuel supply chain.

These efforts highlight CPN’s commitment to sustainable maritime fuel solutions, contributing to reduced environmental impact while supporting efficient shipping operations.
