The milestone was achieved with support from the main contractor, OHLA, and close collaboration with local authorities, which will remain essential for ongoing construction and future operations. “The connection of the first block of Renopool to the grid marks an important step in our renewables business development strategy in Spain,” said Plenitude’s head of renewables in western Europe, Mariangiola Mollicone. “The Renopool project will be our largest solar plant installation, not only because of its size, but also because of its positive environmental and economic impact on the region and will contribute to the country’s energy transition.”
Plenitude is committed to environmental stewardship, partnering with the University of Extremadura for a five-year study on local fauna and soil quality within the solar plant area. Additionally, the company will manage over 100 hectares to enhance conservation efforts for steppe breeding birds, supporting biodiversity in the region.
With projects in Extremadura, Castilla y León, and Andalusia, Plenitude has reached an installed capacity of approximately 1,300 MW in Spain. Controlled by Eni, the company is advancing new initiatives across various renewable technologies, aiming to exceed 2 GW of installed capacity in the future.
The Renopool project underscores Plenitude’s role in Spain’s shift toward sustainable energy, delivering clean electricity while fostering economic growth and environmental preservation in the region.
