This battery supports a peak charging rate of 5C, with a charging current exceeding 700A and peak power surpassing 520kW, representing a significant advancement in electric vehicle technology.
Joint development efforts for the 5C Qilin battery started in 2020, involving over 1,000 researchers from both companies. Of these, 280 engineers from Li Auto, 70% of whom focused on ultra-fast charging technologies, contributed to creating 5C battery cells, a thermal management system, and a safety architecture. This three-year collaboration has resulted in a robust and efficient battery system for Li Auto’s vehicles.
As of April, CATL’s battery technologies have powered over 19.25 million vehicles worldwide.
