Skanska to Build $167M Prague Bypass

Skanska, a Swedish construction company, has secured a $167 million contract with Czechia’s National Highway Authority to construct the I/12 Běchovice-Úvaly bypass, a 12.6 km, four-lane road designed to reroute transit traffic from Prague’s eastern districts. The project includes 23 bridges and six multi-level crossings, aiming to reduce congestion and environmental impact in populated areas. Construction is set to start in July 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The bypass will enhance traffic flow by diverting vehicles away from residential zones, improving local air quality and reducing noise pollution. The infrastructure development aligns with efforts to create more efficient and sustainable transportation networks in the Prague region, benefiting both residents and commuters.

To support the project, Skanska’s subcontractor, Walls Construction, is recruiting a Site Engineer, offering a competitive compensation package.
