H2Next is expected to produce approximately 25,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually. This output will support the decarbonization of key industrial sectors in the Rotterdam port area, including refineries, the chemical industry, and mobility systems.
The plant is positioned to benefit from integration with the upcoming national hydrogen network and the Delta Rhine Corridor. This infrastructure will enable the distribution of green hydrogen to other industrial hubs across Northwest Europe, expanding the project’s reach beyond the local region.
HyCC is currently in the final stages of the study phase for H2Next. The company aims to reach a final investment decision by 2028. If the timeline proceeds as planned, initial hydrogen production is expected to begin around 2030.
H2Next is part of HyCC's broader strategy to accelerate the transition to sustainable hydrogen production. The facility in Rotterdam reflects ongoing efforts to leverage renewable energy, such as offshore wind, in order to reduce carbon emissions and support industrial energy transformation across the region.
