Trianel Commissions Its Largest Solar Park

30 Apr 2025  by renews
Trianel, a municipal utility, has inaugurated its largest solar park to date in Wiesenhagen, Brandenburg, located south of Berlin. The ground-mounted photovoltaic system, constructed by solar and storage company Greentech, represents the 19th project delivered for Trianel over the past two and a half years. With a peak capacity of 70.4MW, the facility marks a significant step in Trianel’s renewable energy initiatives.

Spanning approximately 48 hectares along the Berlin-Halle railway line, the solar park is strategically positioned to optimize energy production. It connects to the grid through a recently constructed 110 kV substation owned by Trianel, ensuring efficient energy distribution. The project underscores the growing collaboration between Trianel and Greentech in advancing sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Andreas Lemke, Trianel’s head of solar, highlighted the project’s importance: “This project is a milestone in our development activities because it is the largest contiguous solar park we have realised to date. This required precise planning and detailed co-ordination, which was only possible thanks to the great co-operation with Greentech.” He further noted the broader impact: “With this park, we have now implemented ground-mounted plants with a total capacity of over 165MWp in Brandenburg and can supply more than 51,000 households with climate-friendly electricity every year.”

The Wiesenhagen solar park contributes to Trianel’s efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure in Brandenburg, supporting the region’s transition to cleaner energy sources. The facility’s capacity to power over 51,000 households annually demonstrates its significant role in meeting local energy demands while reducing environmental impact. The project aligns with broader goals to enhance energy sustainability and promote climate-friendly electricity generation.

The successful collaboration between Trianel and Greentech reflects the importance of precise coordination and expertise in delivering large-scale renewable energy projects. The Wiesenhagen solar park not only strengthens Trianel’s portfolio but also sets a benchmark for future developments in the sector. By leveraging advanced photovoltaic technology and strategic grid connectivity, the facility enhances energy reliability and supports the region’s commitment to sustainable development.

As Trianel continues to expand its renewable energy footprint, the Wiesenhagen solar park stands as a testament to the potential of well-executed solar projects to drive environmental and economic benefits. The initiative positions Brandenburg as a key player in Germany’s renewable energy landscape, fostering cleaner energy access for thousands of households.
