The city of Serock, located in Poland’s Masovian Voivodeship, has entered into an agreement with Multiconsult Polska to serve as the Project Engineer for a geothermal heating project’s drilling operations. The drilling is scheduled to commence by the fall of 2025.

Signing of contract between the city of Serock, Poland and Multiconsult Polska

The contract was formalized by Artur Borkowski, Mayor of the City and Commune of Serock, and Dr. Bogdan Noga, a member of Multiconsult Polska’s Management Board. Multiconsult Polska will undertake the project engineering tasks for PLN 400,000, equivalent to approximately USD 106,000.

The initiative involves drilling the Serock GT-1 exploration and appraisal well in Wierzbica, a town near Serock’s border. The well aims to reach a depth of about 1,670 meters to access thermal waters within the Lower Jurassic formations. A tender for the drilling operations is anticipated to be announced by May 2025.

Data collected from the appraisal well will inform the viability of establishing geothermal heating systems for buildings in Serock and potentially in Wierzbica. This project is part of a broader effort to utilize sustainable energy sources for local heating needs.

Serock is among ten communes selected by Poland’s National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW) to receive funding under the “Providing Access to Thermal Waters in Poland” program. The initiative supports the development of geothermal energy to enhance environmental sustainability and energy efficiency in the region.
