Engelhart Signs New PPA With E.optimum to Increase Wind Power Capacity

Engelhart has strengthened its collaboration with e.optimum through a new power purchase agreement (PPA), supporting Germany’s focus on sustainable energy. This agreement, signed in 2025, builds on a prior PPA from January 2025 and secures renewable electricity from additional onshore wind turbines, totaling approximately 167MW for the second half of 2025.

This growth in onshore wind power represents a substantial contribution to Germany’s ambitious target of achieving a net-zero-carbon economy by 2045.

The partnership has grown significantly with this second PPA, increasing the contracted capacity by 195%, from 86MW to 253MW. This expansion enhances the supply of clean energy from onshore wind, contributing to Germany’s goal of achieving a net-zero-carbon economy by 2045.

Sevastos Kavanozis, Engelhart’s renewables sales & origination head, said: “Our deepening partnership with e.optimum shows that Engelhart is continuing to scale up its PPA business. With this second agreement, Engelhart is now delivering power from over 250MW of onshore wind, which is a great result.”

The additional wind capacity is projected to produce enough green electricity to power approximately 31,000 households. This development marks a notable step in advancing renewable energy adoption in Germany.

Matthias Seel, Engelhart’s senior originator for corporate customers in Europe, said: “The second PPA with e.optimum is another milestone in our joint partnership. Especially in uncertain economic and energy policy times, this is a strong signal that both e.optimum and Engelhart are sticking to the clear goals of decarbonisation in Germany. Particular thanks go to all colleagues and business partners who made this deal possible.”

e.optimum CEO Boris Käser said: “Our valuable partnership with Engelhart reaffirms our commitment to a sustainable future. We are pleased to take this further step in advancing the use of renewable energies in the economy and actively shaping the energy transition. Only through strong collaborations like this can we achieve the ambitious climate goals.”

This agreement underscores the commitment of both companies to expanding renewable energy infrastructure and supporting Germany’s environmental objectives through collaborative efforts.
