Greenvolt Finalises Sale of Polish Wind Farm

02 May 2025  by renews
Greenvolt Power has completed the sale of the Pelplin Wind Farm to Enea Nowa Energia, a subsidiary of Enea Group, a major electricity provider in Poland. The transaction, valued at €174.4 million, was finalized in December 2024.

Situated in the Pelplin municipality in north-central Poland, the wind farm is fully operational with all required permits. It features 16 Siemens Gamesa SG145 turbines, each with a 5.2MW capacity, totaling 83.2MW. The facility connects to a critical grid node, the PSE Pelplin Main Supply Point (400/110 kV), a vital electricity hub in northern Poland.

Enea Group, active in energy generation, distribution, and customer service, aims to expand renewable energy sources. This acquisition supports that goal. João Manso Neto, chief executive of Greenvolt Group, stated: "The Pelplin Wind Farm project is a clear demonstration of our ability to develop utility-scale assets that are attractive and valued by the market."

The sale, combined with the recent Sompolno hybrid project transaction, generated nearly €250 million for Greenvolt, highlighting its strategy to develop and sell high-quality renewable energy assets. Construction of the Pelplin Wind Farm began in June 2023 and was completed on time in December 2024.

Grzegorz Kinelski, president of Enea, remarked: "We perceive the energy transition as an opportunity not only for the development of the Enea Group but also for increasing Poland's energy security and improving the quality of life for current and future generations." The wind farm’s advanced turbines ensure high efficiency, contributing to Poland’s renewable energy goals.

Located in a region with favorable wind conditions, the Pelplin Wind Farm strengthens Poland’s power grid and supports energy reliability. Radek Nowak, chief executive of Greenvolt Power, noted: "The entire implementation process of the Pelplin project proves our expertise and ability to execute and deliver, reinforcing our strong position in the Polish market as a leading player in renewable energy development."

The project underscores both companies’ commitment to sustainable energy and enhances Poland’s renewable energy infrastructure.
