The auction includes 1,400 GWh per year of energy from battery storage, supplied during nighttime, and 300 GWh per year from solar production. Energy delivery is scheduled to begin between the first half of 2026 and the first half of 2027. The process is facilitated through Match Energia, a local electricity marketplace, with applications accepted until 6 May.
This marks Grenergy’s second renewable energy auction in Chile. In March 2022, the company was the first in Latin America to conduct such an auction, enabling broader participation from generators, marketers, and corporations focused on sustainable energy solutions. A company representative stated: “This initiative is aimed at generators, retailers and large consumers with energy demand in the coming years, offering an innovative and competitive way of buying and selling energy.”
With over 12 years of operations in Chile, Grenergy manages one of the country’s largest renewable energy portfolios, featuring 18.3 GWh of storage capacity and 4.1 GW of solar power. The portfolio includes Oasis de Atacama, a flagship project recognized as one of the world’s largest battery storage systems.
The auction provides an opportunity for stakeholders to engage in Chile’s energy transition, promoting access to clean energy through a competitive and transparent platform. Grenergy’s efforts reflect its commitment to supporting sustainable energy development in the region.
