Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 18, ES Foundry, a solar energy equipment supplier, has entered a three-year, 150-megawatt supply agreement with a major US community solar developer. Under the deal, ES Foundry will provide domestically produced solar cells for use in high-quality BNEF Tier 1 solar modules, supporting the developer’s expanding portfolio of renewable energy projects nationwide.

Solar accounted for 66% of all new electric generating capacity added to the grid in 2025.

This partnership enables the developer to access additional investment tax credits for using US-made components, strengthening its ability to deliver sustainable energy solutions. With solar power contributing 66% of new electric generating capacity added to the US grid in 2024, securing a reliable supply of American-made solar cells is vital for meeting growing demand and ensuring project scalability.

The agreement addresses ongoing supply chain challenges in the US solar industry by offering a consistent and cost-effective source of solar cells. For the developer, this collaboration ensures access to high-quality, domestically produced modules, supporting the timely completion of clean energy projects. The partnership fosters long-term cost savings and sustainability for communities served by the developer’s initiatives.

The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to advancing renewable energy and enhancing energy security through domestic manufacturing. Ken Johnston, ES Foundry’s Vice President of Sales, stated: “With this agreement, our customer is setting an example for other solar developers to proactively solidify their domestic supply chain strategies. Developers need certainty, and our commitment is to provide them with a steady supply of high-quality solar cells so they can complete their projects on time and at scale.”

In early 2025, ES Foundry opened a new solar cell manufacturing facility in Greenwood, South Carolina. Spanning over 400,000 square feet, the plant is projected to employ 500 workers by June. The facility positions ES Foundry as a leading producer of high-quality crystalline silicon photovoltaic solar cells in the United States, further supporting the growth of the domestic solar industry.

This agreement highlights the importance of reliable supply chains in accelerating the transition to clean energy, enabling the developer to expand its project pipeline while contributing to a more sustainable and secure energy future.
