Sungrow Releases Modular Inverter for Utility-Scale Solar

Sungrow, a leading Chinese renewable energy company, has introduced an advanced inverter solution for large-scale solar power projects. Named the 1+X 2.0 Modular Inverter, this system features a flexible design that supports utility-scale photovoltaic applications. Each inverter unit delivers 800 kW, and up to 12 units can be linked to achieve a total capacity of 9.6 MW.

Lee Zhang, Vice President at Sungrow, highlighted the product’s significance: “The 1+X 2.0 represents a paradigm shift for the utility-scale solar market. From deserts to mountains, it empowers our customers to push boundaries while delivering outstanding returns on investment. We’re proud to drive the energy transition forward with solutions that marry innovation with sustainability.”

The inverter boasts a maximum efficiency of 99% and includes an arc protection system that isolates faulty circuits in just 40 milliseconds, ensuring operational safety. To maintain performance in challenging environments, it incorporates high-power-density semiconductors, an efficient heat exchanger, and a dual-cycle thermal management system. These features enable stable operation at temperatures up to 52°C without performance reduction.

Designed for durability, the system has an IP66-rated construction, offering protection against harsh weather conditions. Its sealed module, equipped with advanced heat dissipation and self-cleaning air ducts, enhances reliability. The inverter measures 12,192 mm x 2,896 mm x 2,438 mm and weighs up to 31.5 tons.

Sungrow emphasized the system’s intelligent features: “With the AI-powered diagnostics function, the 1+X Modular Inverter provides real-time fault identification, eliminating manual troubleshooting and delays, accelerating repairs, and minimizing reliance on manpower.” This technology streamlines maintenance and reduces operational downtime.

The 1+X 2.0 Modular Inverter is engineered to meet the growing demand for efficient and reliable solar energy solutions, supporting global efforts toward sustainable energy development.
