Chinese batteries and electric vehicles maker BYD Company Ltd (HKG:1211) announced this week it will install 26.5 MW of solar power capacity for Brazilian company Raizen Gera Desenvolvedora.

Under the deal, BYD will be in charge of the full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works for nine solar power plants located in the states of Ceara, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte and Para.

Scheduled to commence power operations in May 2024, the solar parks are expected to be capable of generating the equivalent necessary to meet the demand of 5,500 homes per month.

The output generated by the solar portfolio will be injected into the local grid and shared with Raizen's business networks and those of its partners through credits granted by the local distributor, BYD noted.

Raizen Gera Desenvolvedora is a joint venture between integrated power company Raizen SA (BVMF:RAIZ4) and local energy company Grupo Gera.
