Headquartered in Munich, FlixMobility plans to conduct tests of the fuel cell bus fleet in long-distance traffic and will be the first company to do so.
“We want to be a part of designing the future of mobility,” said André Schwämmlein, Founder and CEO FlixMobility.
“We continuously ask ourselves how we can make travelling even more sustainable. After successfully launching three all-electric buses, we now want to develop the first fuel cell-powered long-distance buses, together with Freudenberg technologies, to set another milestone in the history of mobility.”
The fuel cell powered vehicles should be able to drive at least 500 kilometres before refuelling and refuelling itself should take a maximum of 20 minutes.
“In the first phase of the FlixBus fuel cell project, a representative bus fleet will be equipped with the technology as a pilot,” said Claus Möhlenkamp, CEO of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies.
“In the future, this is how we want to significantly contribute to reducing carbon dioxide in street traffic. What we do, together with FlixMobility on European roads, will be a trailblazing move for other mobility sectors.”
