Bakrom Mining (Bakrom Madencilik San. and Tic. Inc.) have started the permit process for drilling for geothermal exploration in the southwest of Ayvacik in Canakkale, Türkiye. Drilling of one exploration borehole is planned, lasting approximately 3 months and with a budget of 8,800,000 TL (approx. USD 317,300).

As published on the website of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Geothermal-IR 17/27 operating license has been transferred to the Bakrom Mining company. The license had previously been held by Yerka Elektrik Uretim A.S.

As stated in the EIA Report, “the project area is located 10 km southwest of Ayvacik District center, approximately 71 km south of Canakkale Province, and within the borders of Ayvacik district.” Access to the study area is provided by a path that goes south after turning into the Buyukhusun village road, which separates from the Ayvacik-Assos-Behramkale road.

Within the scope of the project, it is planned to conduct one exploration drilling to determine the potential of the region in terms of its geothermal energy resources. The drilling in question will be achieved by drilling an exploration borehole to a depth of 1500 meters .

In case of negative results of geothermal resource exploration activities, the borehole will be shut and the equipment in the location area will be dismantled and the land will be restored. If the exploration activities are positive, a valve will be installed on the well and will be kept until the production phase. The necessary application will then be made within the scope of the EIA Regulation for the production phase of the resource.

Again, as stated in the EIA Report, the exploration drilling activity within the scope of the project is planned to be completed after a working period of approximately 3 months. The budget of the project was determined as 8,800,000 TL.
