Sulzer Opens New Service Center

Sulzer, a global pump original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and independent service provider (ISP), has recently opened its purpose-built Lausitz Service Center. The facility, located in the industrial park of Schwarze Pumpe near Spremberg, Germany, aims to provide advanced repair and upgrade capabilities for various types of rotating equipment. With a focus on serving industries such as power generation, petrochemicals, paper, and water, the center aims to improve equipment reliability and productivity for operators in Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

The Lausitz Service Center is the result of the consolidation of Sulzer's Jaenschwalde and Schwarze Pumpe Service Centers. By bringing together the engineering talent from these centers and introducing new capabilities, Sulzer aims to offer comprehensive and accessible services to local industries. The new facility adheres to Sulzer's latest LEAN and Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) standards, providing customers with a streamlined and expedited experience by having a single point of contact.

Customers can benefit from the center's "one-stop-shop" approach, which covers repairs and upgrades for a wide range of rotating equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, compressors, turbines, blowers, and more. Additionally, the facility houses one of Sulzer's mechanical seal repair shops and offers parts manufacturing capabilities. With an array of machine tools, the center can produce large casings, shafts, and various other mechanical parts in-house, reducing lead times and costs for customers. Furthermore, the center boasts a team of dedicated field service engineers ready to address on-site requirements promptly.

The Lausitz Service Center caters to specific needs in industries such as paper manufacturing, refineries, power stations, and flood alleviation. Furthermore, the facility features new insulation, resulting in reduced energy consumption and a smaller carbon footprint.

Uwe Kirstein, Head of Services, North/East region at Sulzer, expressed enthusiasm about the new service center's potential to benefit customers. The facility is already operational and ready to optimize equipment and processes for companies in the region.
