NHPC Limited and the Government of Odisha, through GRIDCO Limited, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of pumped storage and renewable energy projects in the State of Odisha, India.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Shri Nikunja B. Dhal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Energy in the Government of Odisha and Chairman of GRIDCO, and Shri Biswajit Basu, Director (Projects) of NHPC Limited. The MoU was formally signed by Shri Rajat Gupta, Executive Director (SBD&C) of NHPC, and Shri Trilochan Panda, Managing Director of GRIDCO Limited. Officials from both organizations were also present.
The main objective of this MoU is to initiate the development of Self-identified Pumped Storage Projects, which will contribute a minimum capacity of 2000MW to the state's energy infrastructure. Additionally, the collaboration seeks to establish renewable energy projects, specifically ground mounted solar projects and floating solar pojects, with a capacity of 1000MW or more.
