Qatarenergy and Namibia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy Sign Mou to Strengthen Cooperation in Energy Sector

The MoU covers knowledge sharing, workforce development, and exploring further investment opportunities in Namibia.

QatarEnergy and the Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Republic of Namibia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector.

The signing ceremony was held at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Doha.

The President and CEO of QatarEnergy and the Namibian Minister of Mines & Energy, Tom Alweendo, signed the agreement in the presence of Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs.

The MoU covers knowledge sharing, workforce development, and exploring further investment opportunities in Namibia.

Minister Al-Kaabi expressed his pleasure in enhancing cooperation with Namibia and building on their recent successes, stating that the agreement strengthens their relationship as they work together towards a prosperous future.

QatarEnergy recently announced a light oil discovery in the Jonker-1X well in the Orange Basin, offshore southern Namibia, adding to its previous two separate oil and associated gas discoveries in the same basin in 2022.
