Bladt Delivers All Transition Pieces for Vattenfall’s Danish Offshore Wind Farm Duo

26 Apr 2023  by offshorewind
Bladt Industries has sent off the last transition piece (TP) for the Vesterhav Nord offshore wind farm from its facility in Aalborg, Denmark. The company has thus delivered all TPs for Vattenfall’s Vesterhav Nord & Syd offshore wind project, 21 for Vesterhav Nord and 20 for Vesterhav Syd.
Vattenfall awarded Bladt Industries a contract for the fabrication of 41 TPs for the Vesterhav project in November 2021 and the fabrication started in the spring of 2022.

Each TP has a height of 22,5 metres and weighs approximately 260 tonnes.

The monopiles for the two wind farms will be produced by EEW in Rostock, Germany.

The monopiles and TPs will be installed at the project sites, located 10 kilometres off the West coast of Jutland near Thyborøn (Nord) and Søndervig (Syd), by DEME Group and its jack-up vessel Innovation. Earlier this year, DEME signed a contract with the Port of Thyboron to use the port for the work.

The two offshore wind farms, being built in a water depth of 20 metres, will comprise 41 Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW wind turbines which will be installed by Jan De Nul.

With a combined capacity of 344 MW, the wind farms will produce enough electricity to supply 350,000 Danish homes in total.
