The areas also represent potential in terms of high-enthalpy geothermal resources based on studies done by the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain, Instituto Volcanológico de Canarias (INVOLCAN), Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables, S.A. (ITER), and various universities.
