Italian energy giant Enel, through its e-mobility division Enel X Way, said it plans to deploy 2 million electric vehicle chargers in the U.S. by 2030.

Enel X Way has already sold 170,000 EV charging ports in the U.S. and Canada. This latest effort will target commercial and public charging segments, the company said, including more than 10,000 DC public charging stations.

The company is also launching new installation, operations and maintenance, and financing services to support the plan and accelerate deployment. Enel X Way is partnering with Charge Point on public, fast EV charging station deployment.

Enel X Way said the step into public EV charging infrastructure is in response to funding from the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, which set aside $5 billion for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program.
