Genevos Launches New 80KW Fuel Cell

Hydrogen power solutions developer Genevos has today (January 27) launched an 80kW plug-and-play Hydrogen Power Module (HPM) for marine applications.

The HPM-80 is a stackable fuel cell that can achieve multi-megawatt scale, which Genevos says can enable energy intensive applications such as ferries and service vessels to reduce their emissions to zero.

It joins the HPM-15 and HPM-40 marine fuel cell family, providing a drop-in solution for decarbonising boats and ships with propulsion systems from 10kW to 5MW.

H2 View understands Genevos’ range is currently in the Type Approval Certification process, with the new HPM-80 multi-stacked system to be delivered this summer (2023).

Genevos has said the latest system can also be used to eliminate emissions in port and at anchor by powering auxiliary vessel systems. Weighing in at 330kg, the company says the 80kW fuel cell is one third of the weight of an equivalent diesel genset.

The company’s fuel cell solutions were initially launched in 2020.
