Microsoft India Sources 150 MW Of Solar From ReNew Power

December 16 (Renewables Now) - Indian renewable power producer ReNew Energy Global Plc (NASDAQ:RNW) said on Friday that it signed an agreement with Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) to supply 150 MW of solar power for the US tech firm’s operations in India.
 
Microsoft India is to secure electricity from a solar farm near the city of Bikaner in Rajasthan. ReNew said it had recently commissioned the site.

No other details about the arrangement were provided.
 
“Microsoft is striving to run 100% on renewable energy by 2025 and turn carbon negative by 2030. We are happy to partner with ReNew Power to meet our sustainability targets, and to also help our customers and partners on their sustainability journey,” Rohini Srivathsa, National Technology Officer at Microsoft India, said in a prepared statement.
 
ReNew is one of the largest independent power producers in India’s renewables space. As of September 30, its gross portfolio consists of around 13.4 GW of renewable energy projects and commissioned power plants in India, the company says.
