Siemens Gamesa has teamed up with Swedish developer OX2 for the 70MW Riberget onshore wind project.

The project will be located in the municipality of Ljusdal, Sweden, and is due to be commissioned in late 2024.

It will consist of 11 SG 6.6-170 wind turbines, using a hub height of 115-meters. The turbines will provide enough electricity to power over 60,000 homes and will offset the equivalent of 185,000 tonnes of CO2.

According to Siemens Gamesa, this platform features one of the largest rotors in the onshore landscape, providing customers with a competitive Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE).

Once the installation works are complete for the Riberget wind farm, Siemens Gamesa will provide all maintenance services for the wind farm through a 35-year service agreement.

“We are pleased to collaborate with OX2 once more to develop ever more competitive clean energy in Sweden. We only expect this partnership to grow stronger in coming years as both companies strive to meet lofty renewable targets set across the Nordics and beyond,” said Clark MacFarlane, CEO of Siemens Gamesa’s Onshore Northern Europe and Middle East operations.

In October this year, OX2 signed an agreement to sell Riberget wind farm to Fu-Gen, a privately held IPP focused on the development and ownership of energy producing sites in UK and Nordics.

“We are immensely proud to realize the farm and hereby accelerate the access to renewable energy for the region. The close collaboration and open dialogue with Ljusdal’s local authorities, the landowner and local residents, as well as our customer Fu-Gen has been instrumental for the project. Riberget has a special focus on increasing the biodiversity in nature, where various efforts are discussed in close cooperation with landowner in order to find the most relevant solutions,” says Paul Stormoen, CEO, OX2 AB.

The Siemens Gamesa 5.X platform has now sold over 4.5GW since its launch, with 2.4GW coming from Sweden.
