Green Investment Group Ltd (GIG), owned by Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX:MQG), has inked a deal to buy a 43-MW wind farm in Sweden from project developer OX2, the latter announced today.

The wind park in question is located in Hornamossen, Jonkoping municipality, and has been in development since 2006. OX2 will act as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor and will also take care of the technical and commercial management of the plant upon completion in late 2020.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) will supply 10 turbines of the SWT-DD-130 4.3MW model and will service them over a period of 25 years.

The completed wind farm will sell its output under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) between GIG and Axpo Nordic.

This is GIG’s third PPA-backed onshore wind project in Sweden in under two years, according to Ed Northam, Head of GIG EMEA, who also noted that the investor will continue to pursue opportunities in the Nordic region.
