China's Geely Auto Group announced on June 23 that SK Innovation will supply batteries to its premium electric vehicle brand.
If a supply agreement is signed between the two companies, SK Innovation’s batteries will power the Polestar 3. Polestar is an independent premium electric car brand in Sweden established by Volvo Cars and Geely Auto.
Polestar has released two electric vehicle models, the Polestar 1 and the Polestar 2, in China and Europe. The automobile brand recently announced that it will produce its first pure electric SUV model, Polestar 3, in the United States next year.
Currently, SK Innovation is expanding its battery plants in Georgia, the United States. Industry watchers say that the company is in good conditions to supply batteries for the Polestar 3.
