Wind Power Sets New Record in the UK

UK wind energy set a new record on 21 May meeting almost two-thirds of electricity demand, according to preliminary data from National Grid ESO.

Between 2am and 3am on 21 May wind power met 62.5% of demand (16.3GW), National Grid ESO said.

The previous record was set in August 2020, it added.

National Grid ESO said at 1.30am on 26 August last year wind energy had made up 59.9% (14.2GW) of the country's electricity.
