Under the agreement, buyers of EVs from any of the Volkswagen Group’s brands will be advised of EDF’s regional green electricity offerings either via the internet or through the sales networks.

The aim is to support EV customers with a comprehensive offering of services, extending up to renewable energy supply for the home. This is in addition to the current offering of a charging station made by the Volkswagen Group.

EDF’s offer is for local renewable energy backed by guarantees of origin, so that customers are ensured that their vehicle choice is fully low carbon.

In the first phase, the offer is being made to customers of the Volkswagen and Audi brands starting in Brittany and later expanding countrywide. The offer will be extended to the Seat and Skoda brands in the second phase.

“EDF is convinced that the acceleration of electric mobility requires the mobilisation of major players such as the Volkswagen Group,” says Olivier Dubois, director of strategic partnerships and electric mobility development at the EDF Group.

“Thanks to electricity, from the complementarity between our two groups is born low carbon solutions and innovative services that facilitate the use of EVs for our customers.”

EDF intends to work closely with the Volkswagen Group on delivery of the offer, which is envisaged to advance its growing renewable ambitions.

The offer also supports the Volkswagen Group’s zero-emissions strategy for 2050. The Group intends to invest €33 billion ($39.9 billion) in e-mobility up to 2024 and plans up to 75 new EVs by 2029.

One of the latest offerings is for the Audi E-tron range of EVs to be supplied smart charging ready, future proofing the vehicles for their anticipated growth and integration to the grid.

“Connecting major players in electromobility is a guarantee of success towards a decarbonised society and is why Volkswagen Group France and EDF are moving forward together,” says Luc Chausson, Director of Strategic Projects – Together 2025 at Volkswagen Group France.
