Vestas Secures 20MW Contract in Italy

30 Dec 2020  by renews.biz

Vestas has signed a contract in Italy with Gruppo FERA subsidiary Aleramo for turbines totalling 20MW for the Cairo Montenotte wind farm.

The deal covers supply, transport, installation and commissioning of five V136-4.0MW machines as well as an 18-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement.

The project is located in Cascinassa, Liguria, in complex mountainous terrain with little space to move larger rotor turbine components, Vestas said.

Vestas vice-president of sales for Southern Europe and Turkey Rainer Karan said: “We are very excited about our partnership with Gruppo FERA.

“This project will showcase how Vestas’ new generation of wind turbines can reach mountainous areas.

“It breaks new grounds for the development of wind energy in Italy and it can represent a significant step in the country’s transition towards a decarbonised economy.”

FERA board member and Aleramo director Luigi Pennisi said: “This is a very relevant project for Gruppo FERA, in terms of power, productivity and investment effort.

“It represents a great example of good collaboration with the public administrations involved in the authorisation process and the local stakeholder, acting together to make an important contribution on the renewable energy production.

“We are proud to take this challenge, as part of our mission to reduce the overall environmental impact, as evidenced by the development FERA is carrying on in Italy and Australia.”
