Kosovo Signs Agreements for 100MW of Wind, Solar

23 Dec 2020  by Josh Evans

Kosovan grid operator Kostt has signed connection agreements for two wind farms and a solar plant in the Kamenica municipality with a combined capacity of 99.6MW, which are expected to come on line in 2024.

Kostt signed the connection agreements with developer Air Energy 2 for the Kamenica 1 and Kamenica 2 wind farms, each with a capacity of 34.8MW, as well as the 30MW Kamenica 3 solar farm.

Construction is planned to start in 2021, with generation to begin at the site at the end of 2024, Kostt said.

Kosovo aims to increase its renewable generation capacity to 150MW of wind, 250MW of hydropower, 30MW of solar and 20MW of biomass by 2026. It currently has 34MW of wind, 7MW of solar and 80MW of hydro capacity.

The 105MW Bajgora wind farm is due to come on line in April 2021, while installed capacity at the 32.4MW Kitka wind farm — which began operations in 2018 — is expected to be increased by 20MW by 2022.
