Uganda Launches Facilities of Phase 1 Isimba Hydro Project

Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) has commissioned the newly constructed facilities under CDAP project phase I (One) in Kayunga district as part of the 183-MW Isimba Hydro Power Project.

At a function held at Busaana Health Centre III, Hon. Amos Lugolobi – Member of Parliament, Ntenjeru North and Guest of Honor commended UEGCL for the boundless efforts towards social-economic transformation of the people of Kayunga.

The newly constructed facilities include; classroom blocks, VIP latrines and staff houses at Busaana Secondary School, Nakakandwa (COU) Primary School and Nakatooke (RC) Primary School. General wards, staff houses and VIP latrines were also constructed at Busaana health Centere IV, Namusaala Health Centre II and Bukamba Health Centre III.

Ahead of the commissioning of these projects, technical inspections with combined efforts from, Kayunga District officials, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education & Sports were carried out to ensure the projects were up to the specified standard.

“A few weeks ago, we convened at Lwanyama Technical Institute in Kamuli district with Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga -Speaker of Parliament and witnessed the commissioning of CDAP facilities in Kamuli district. It gives me utmost pleasure that we have also convened here to do the same for the facilities in Kayunga.” Said Dr. Eng. Harrison E. MUTIKANGA – UEGCL CEO during the commissioning.

Through Corporate Social Responsibility, UEGCL has also equipped Busaana Health Centre III with a maternity delivery bed, 5 adult patient hospital beds and mattresses.
