It is said that this is the preparatory first step of the microgrid project, which is partly funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and closely cooperates with project partners including the Faroe Islands utility company Sev.
Furthermore, the 1.2 MW Dragon 12 tidal energy kite has been recovered to shore in Vestmanna following a 10-month grid-connected period, with extensive inspections and evaluations of system status to now be conducted. "Preliminary conclusions indicate that the system condition is in line with expectations, showing signs of wear after enduring the marine environment and exceeding the set maintenance intervals," Minesto reported.
According to the Swedish company, operations will continue throughout the spring and summer, primarily to serve the delivery of the microgrid project (ETRIC) and to host inspection visits from international business partners.
