At HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, Huawei unveiled its F5G-A FTTO Solution, highlighting its leadership in next-generation campus network innovation. The launch event featured a keynote by Perry Yang, President of Huawei Enterprise Optical Domain, titled Boosting Computing with Fiber: Powering Campuses with Inclusive AI. Yang said: "As AI becomes locally deployed across campuses, all-optical infrastructure is emerging as a massive trend. Huawei's F5G-A FTTO solution leverages fiber-based transmission to deliver a green, cost-effective network with a 30-year lifecycle, smooth bandwidth evolution, and reduced need for ELV rooms. It has become a must-have for AI-powered campuses. Huawei's F5G-A FTTO solution has already been deployed in over 12,000 smart campuses worldwide. Huawei is advancing with the belief of 'No Fiber, No AI', and working hand-in-hand with customers and partners to build futuristic smart campuses."

Huawei’s F5G-A FTTO series emphasizes four core advantages to accelerate AI-driven campus digital transformation.

Ultra-broadband: The solution introduces the industry’s first commercial symmetric 50G PON, increasing bandwidth fivefold over previous generations. Seamless upgrades from 10G to 50G PON provide 50 Gbps to rooms and 10 Gbps to Wi-Fi, supporting high-demand applications such as VR classrooms, pathology labs, and data-intensive research environments.

Simplified architecture: Its native 2-Layer design delivers fibers directly to rooms, eliminating ELV rooms and reducing cabling costs by up to 80%. Hard slicing technology enables multi-network convergence, lowering total cost of ownership (TCO) by 30%. A single fiber supports Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and POTS, ensuring integrated connectivity.

Smart connectivity: AI-powered Wi-Fi anti-interference improves access performance by 20% in complex environments. Dedicated Wi-Fi air interfaces ensure zero-lag experiences for applications such as video conferencing, remote learning, and healthcare services.

Intelligent sensing: Optical APs with integrated CSI sensing enable behavior recognition and environmental monitoring, integrating seamlessly with energy and building management systems to provide a responsive, intelligent network.

Huawei also introduced industry-specific products for education, healthcare, hospitality, and manufacturing.

In healthcare, the symmetric 50G PON terminal P992H provides 50 Gbps to rooms and 10 Gbps to devices, reducing AI pathology analysis time from 1 hour to 5 minutes. The compact 10G M45 P892M ONU can be installed at the bedside for direct fiber access without an information box.

In education, dormitories for 6–8 students can use an 8-port Wi-Fi 7 optical AP W827E-30 for unified wired, wireless, and telephony access. Long-distance PoF cables ensure uninterrupted connectivity during power outages.

In offices, the 4-port ONU P802P delivers 10 Gbps fiber to desktops. The Wi-Fi 7 optical AP W817H supports seamless roaming and energy-saving features like motion-triggered lighting.

In hospitality, Huawei’s 3-in-1 Wi-Fi 7 optical AP W827E and outdoor W817T provide full indoor-outdoor coverage, boosting speed by 20% and enhancing connectivity with intelligent interference mitigation.

Looking ahead, Huawei plans to integrate F5G-A technology across diverse industries, collaborating with customers, partners, and organizations to explore new applications, incubate solutions, and advance standards—co-creating smart, digital campuses for the AI era.
