Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group (Nikkiso CE&IG), a subsidiary of Japan’s Nikkiso, has been contracted by New Providence Gas (NPG), a joint venture between Shell and a FOCOL Holdings subsidiary, to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification systems and engineering services for an LNG-to-power project in Nassau, Bahamas. The initiative, located at Clifton Pier, aims to enhance power generation with lower-carbon infrastructure by supplying LNG to new and retrofitted gas turbines previously reliant on diesel.

Nikkiso will manufacture and deliver a comprehensive LNG regasification system, featuring high-pressure submerged centrifugal pumps in a modular skid, a gas-fired water bath vaporizer, power distribution and control systems, an insulated pipeline with Nikkiso’s vacuum jacketed technology, and essential ancillary equipment. The system, with a capacity of 55 million standard cubic feet per day, incorporates a modular design to streamline integration and reduce costs.

Adrian Ridge, President and CEO of Nikkiso CE&IG, stated: “Nikkiso’s LNG-to-power solution is preferred by our customers because we can engineer, manufacture, install and service critical equipment which helps provide power via natural gas in some of the world’s most remote locations. We’ve proven time and again that we are a reliable partner, supporting customers with quick delivery and installation for projects of any scale. This project is a good insight into how important cryogenic equipment is for companies like NPG looking to expand lower-carbon power generation.”

The New Providence Gas project will develop an LNG receiving terminal in phases, enabling efficient power generation for the region. Nikkiso’s engineering services will support the project’s implementation, ensuring reliable operation of the regasification system. The transition to LNG from diesel aligns with efforts to provide cleaner energy solutions for the Bahamas, supporting sustainable power generation.

Nikkiso’s expertise in cryogenic and regasification technology positions it as a key partner in delivering scalable, efficient energy infrastructure. The project highlights the growing demand for innovative solutions to meet energy needs in remote locations while prioritizing lower-carbon alternatives. By providing critical equipment and services, Nikkiso contributes to the Bahamas’ efforts to modernize its energy sector with sustainable practices.
