Linde plc, based in Dublin, Ireland, has commissioned one of the world’s largest helium storage caverns in Beaumont, Texas. With a capacity exceeding three billion cubic feet, this facility enhances global helium supply reliability by addressing fluctuations in natural supply and demand.

As one of only three helium salt caverns worldwide, the Beaumont site is equipped to store and extract helium efficiently. This project strengthens Linde’s extensive global helium infrastructure, which includes a network of production facilities and proprietary storage technologies, ensuring consistent supply for customers across multiple regions.

Helium is critical for various applications, such as manufacturing advanced semiconductors, supporting space vehicle launches, and powering essential medical imaging equipment. The increasing demand for helium highlights the need for robust storage solutions to support industries like aerospace, electronics, healthcare, and manufacturing.

Anshul Sarda, Managing Director of Global Helium and Rare Gases at Linde, underscored the facility’s importance: “Helium’s unique properties make it indispensable for our customers in vital industries, including aerospace, electronics, healthcare, and manufacturing. With this investment, Linde is strengthening its global supply network to ensure our customers have reliable access to helium around the world.”

The Beaumont cavern marks a significant step in Linde’s commitment to bolstering the global helium market. By expanding storage capacity, the facility helps maintain stable supply chains, ensuring availability for industries dependent on this vital resource. This development solidifies Linde’s role as a leading provider of helium and rare gases, supporting technological and healthcare advancements globally.
