On July 17, Gotion High-Tech, a Chinese battery manufacturer, launched production of its 5MWh Gotion GRID energy storage system at its Göttingen, Germany facility, as announced on its WeChat account. The system earned full compliance under the EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 from TÜV SÜD, advancing Gotion’s role in Europe’s energy storage market.

This milestone supports Gotion’s strategy to expand in Europe and contribute to the region’s energy transition. The Gotion GRID, developed in-house, uses durable battery cells with a 12,000-cycle lifespan. Its modular design reduces land use by 35%, and advanced thermal insulation and fire protection ensure operational safety.

Equipped with Gotion’s battery management system, the GRID employs liquid-cooling technology, boosting efficiency by 30% over air-cooling systems. It also features strong fire protection and multi-protocol interfaces, aligning with Europe’s rigorous safety and environmental standards. The system holds China’s CGC and CSA UL certifications, enabling global deployment.

Operational since September 2023, Gotion’s Göttingen plant, established in July 2021, produces battery packs and energy storage systems. The 5MWh system, manufactured locally, supports applications in power generation, grid systems, and renewable energy storage.

Gotion’s research partnership with the University of Göttingen enhances battery material development and talent cultivation. Adopting a “Be local, for local” philosophy, Gotion strengthens Europe’s energy ecosystem through localized production and strategic collaborations.
